Acworth

Acworth is known as the Lake City because it is situated along the southeastern shores of both Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona. Part of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, the city also boasts the Etowah River and the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains as attractions. Acworth's downtown is on the national list of historic places, and the city's Main Street was once a Cherokee Indian trading route. In the 1920s, it became known as Dixie Highway.

Canton

Canton is a progressive little city located between the Blue Ridge Mountains and Atlanta, with a population that nearly tripled in the decade between 2000 and 2010. Today, it is home to just over 29,000 people, according to official estimates, but it is "outside the perimeter," allowing a casual, country vibe. Canton is the Cherokee County seat and straddles Interstate 575 and Highway 20, offering easy access to cities in several directions. But residents cherish the views, city parks and the Etowah River that meanders through town.

Smyrna

Smyrna is considered within the "inner ring" of Atlanta communities, situated only 10 miles from the downtown. It has a population of almost 57,000, so in many ways it is a city in its own right, with all the advantages of a diverse economy and a wealth of amenities. Not only is it one of the fastest-growing, but it is also one of the most densely-populated small cities in the state.

West Cobb

If you view Cobb County, Georgia, as a circle with Marietta carved out roughly in the middle, you have a kind of visual representation of East Cobb County and West Cobb County. They are, in effect, two halves of the same whole, but they have different personalities. Both are attractive, with high scores for popularity. East Cobb is perhaps better known than West Cobb, as it’s located slightly closer to the city. But West Cobb has a lot going for it, including three new state-of-the-art schools in the past seven years, and a setting that remained more rural well into the 1980s, which also means that its community amenities are newer than those to the east.

Marietta is the largest city and the county seat of Cobb County, situated to the northwest of downtown Atlanta. Marietta is a vibrant community with a distinct personality, home to Dobbins Air Reserve Base and the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield. With a population over 60,000, there is a lot to love about Marietta, including its history and natural beauty. Considered a convenient, moderately-priced suburb, Marietta also boasts a school system with an exemplary reputation.

Kennesaw

A mid-sized community in rural Cobb County northwest of Atlanta, Kennesaw was once selected by Family Circle magazine as one of the nation's Best Small Towns for Families. With a population of just over 34,000, the city tries hard to live up to that accolade. It boasts good schools, a relaxed suburban lifestyle, open space, and a mix of housing. It's also one of the fastest-growing small cities in Georgia and in the nation.

Blue Ridge

It would be a stretch to consider commuting to Blue Ridge from Atlanta, but there are plenty of reasons for wanting to get to Blue Ridge at every opportunity. It has been called Georgia's favorite small town, with an emphasis on small. But, that's a large part of its charm. This mountain town has a little more than 1,400 residents, but it has luxury homes, rustic cabins, bed and breakfast lodgings and a few motel rooms. Located on the border with Tennessee, it's only 90 miles from Atlanta, and is a favorite getaway destination for city dwellers.

Woodstock

Woodstock, Georgia, is a small town in Cherokee County and even though it's growing by leaps and bounds, it's determined to remain local and natural. It boasts a historic Downtown and some fine old homes. It also supports its local Farmer’s Market in season, and honored its veterans with a 10-ton polished granite memorial a few years ago. Woodstock is also home to a diplomatic mission; the Consulate-General of El Salvador. About 33,000 people come home to Woodstock, but it's still considered a part of the Atlanta metropolitan area people come home to Woodstock, but it's still considered a part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area.
